Would email contacts generated by our software be considered spam?

If you send an email as an individual, TO an individual, and it is UNIQUE to that individual and not a bulk email, you are sending a personal communication with interest on both sides, therefore it is not spam. It is up to you not to abuse the system and avoid sending mass emails without personality.
